Lindsey’s Thank-You Links

As I dip my toe into the wild wild west of indie publishing, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the people who have helped me along the way. Also, I hate it when I see something cool on someone’s web site and then I can’t figure out how to go get it for myself.

  • Patricia Burroughs, who has mentored me for 20+ years. It was Patti who said initially, way too many years ago, “Great story, but you need to change just one little thing. Rewrite it in third person.” Oh, so much easier said than done! Visit Patti’s site and see how I shamelessly stole her web site ideas.
  • 1and1.com for their hosting services. I love being able to set up unlimited sites and SQL databases in the same space. I really got an excellent deal on a hosting package.
  • TailoredWP Custom WordPress Services (Richard Nuñez) for their same-day WordPress installation, and thank you so much for upgrading my other site!
  • Elegant Themes for their wonderful WordPress themes and plug-ins. Patti and I are both using the Memoir theme. Nice, isn’t it?
  • Lynda, Inc. for the great online WordPress classes. Really, Lynda’s is the best site for online software classes. You can get an annual membership or go month-to-month.
  • Christie Gucker of ProvokeSomething LLC for the Lindsey Forrest and Ashmore’s Folly web site logos. She and I are members of the same insane fandom, and somehow she keeps her cool and sense of humor even when under attack from rabid fans.
  • The Book Designer for the great media kit templates. Not that I yet have figured out how to write a good press release.
  • Countingdownto.com for the great countdown clock.
  • Adobe, for designing two great programs for print book design (InDesign and Framemaker). Not so great at the e-book conversion, though, Adobe. Still some work to do.
  • Stef McDaid at WriteintoPrint, for the speedy conversion of my Framemaker-into-Word manuscript to EPUB and MOBI.
  • And last, but hardly least, my wonderful, talented, PATIENT book cover designer, Robin Ludwig of Robin Ludwig Design, who somehow read my mind and figured out that I really didn’t want what I thought I wanted on the cover. She and Jim also did my business cards and small book cards as well, and they are superb. Thank you so much!
